Biography Born Humphrey Charles Swingler. Brother of politician Stephen Swingler and poet Randall Swingler. Educated at Rugby public school and Oxford University. Initially worked as a schoolmaster before entering films in teh cutting rooms of Merton Park Studios in 1936. He joined the British Unit of The MARCH OF TIME in 1937, and afterwards directed for them. After several years in the cutting rooms of the Crown Film Unit he joined Greenpark as a director.
