Biography Father of film music composer Ray Beaver. Prolific film composer who worked over a period of some thirty years, begining in the 1930s. For many of the feature films for which he composed music he was uncredited, being under the control a musical directors such as Louis Levy who were credited as musical director on screen. Composed music for a wide range of films from well-known features to documentaries, "quickies" and childrens films. His son Ray also became a film music composer and they collaborated on several titles. Jack Beaver also wrote a large library of pieces for use in the film industry - some 300+ pieces of work. One of these "Sea Piece" was the basis of the music track of the documentary LEVIATHAN. He also wrote a large number of pieces for many publishers' background music libraries which made their way into countless films. He is erroneously credited for the music on the film IT HAPPENED HERE (which was actually composed by his son Raymond). The mistake was probably caused by the erroneous notification to the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society and the Performing Right Society. Mistake also occurs on the screen credits.
