Notes Formed by Ludovico Toeplitz Registered in January 1937 (Kine Year Book 1938 p. 224). Originally set up to make films in Italy and Britain with studios in Rome and at Sound City Shepperton. Production office based at Warwick St W1, London then Bedford Avenue WC1, moving to Hanvoer Square c. 1942. Later offices were based at the studios. Board of Directors included A.M. Sassoon, G.R. Grossfield, Sir Victor Schuster, N.G.W. Loudon and F. Del Guidice. Production personel included Mario Zampi (producer/director) and Anton de Grunwald (scenarist). The company had a close connection with J. Arthur Rank who joined the board of directors in the late 1940s. The company began using Denham Studios in c. 1941 and then moved to Pinewood Stuios (c. 1950). The company ceased trading around 1956. The films were usually distributed by General Film Distributors (later Rank) and rights were bought by Carlton in 1999.
