LOOK AT LIFE: SUGARING THE PILL
A feature looking at the growth of pill taking in Britain, including the contraceptive pill. It goes into the history of pill production and shows various pills being manufactured, including one with a radio transmitter in it for testing the effect of various tablets on stomach juices, and the mixing of ingredients at a pharmaceutical factory in Hounslow, Middlesex, to make capsules, which are then sent on to another firm to be filled with Penicillin. Checking of these at a Brentford laboratory is seen, as are other tests. Tranquilisers are touched upon, and the film concludes with a look at "The Pill", with shots of it being produced.
Facts and figures about pill-taking in Britain today, on and off prescription, and 'The Pill' itself.
