In Venice, where John Baxter, who is restoring the church of San Nicolo' dei Mendicoli, and his wife, Laura, are trying to recover from the death of their daughter Christine, they encounter two elderly English woman. One of the women, a blind psychic, tells Laura that that she can 'see' their dead daughter and that the child is happy. John, meanwhile, seems literally to see Christine from the corner of his eye, running in her red plastic mac through the streets of the city. The sisters warn Laura that John is in danger in Venice, but John stays, determined to confront Christine ...
