NFA Catalogue
A mysterious stranger wrapped in bandages arrives at an English village inn seeking accommodation. Staying in one of the rooms, the stranger's irrational behaviour while working on what he calls scientific experiments becomes of increasing concern. When the innkeeper attempts to eject him, the stranger throws him down the stairs. He then evades the village policeman and a group of the villagers by unwrapping his bandages to show that he is invisible. The stranger is Jack Griffin, who had been working on experiments with monocane, a plant extract known to cause insanity, which has turned him invisible. Griffin, becoming increasingly deranged, visits his associate Doctor Kemp with a plan to rule the world. Kemp, however, informs the police and Griffin's fiancée, Flora, of his whereabouts. The latter tries to reason with him, all to no avail, and Griffin kills Kemp for his betrayal. Now on the run Griffin hides in a barn. The farmer, becoming aware of Griffin's presence in the barn, informs the police who surround the building and set it ablaze. When Griffin runs out of the barn, the snow on the ground betrays his presence and he is shot. Flora is by his side as he dies, returning to bodily form as he does so.
