DOCUMENTARY. Arts and media programme. Presented by Paul Morley. Item on use of television in Brazilian election campaign, where only three million read newspapers but sixty million watch soap operas. Emphasis on the campaign of Fernando Collor and his backing by the largest television station TV Globo (12 mins). Cynthia Rose talks about alternative teen movies following the release of 'Heathers'; clips from 'Over The Edge', 'The Boys Next Door', 'River's Edge' and 'Heathers' itself, plus comments from director Michael Lehman (24 mins). Item on Indian dancer Shobana Jeyasingh and her use of the Bharatha Natyam dance with modern music styles. Shows her working with composer Michael Nyman, and the dance 'Defilé' she choreographed for the Bicentenary Parade in Paris (shown in Paris and recreated in the studio) which employs modern dance music with more traditional dance movements.
