Library Synopsis

A new science - the science of attraction - is being discovered, making it possible to measure beauty. Against the back drop of an Edinburgh beauty contest, psychologist Dr. David Perrett from St Andrew's University picks the winner with a computer as judges announce their decision. With contributions from Cindy Jackson who has had 18 operations in the cause of beauty; Professor Michael Cunningham of the University of Louisville, Kentucky, who anlyses the faces of celebrities; art historian Robin Simon on beauty through the ages; and social anthropologist Ted Polhemus who asserts it is impossible to agree on the ideal face.
