PANORAMA [BBC, 1953- ]: PULP FUTURE

A future in which "Big Brother" will be watching but will no longer care what you are doing. Visits a number of countries where the rule of law is already breaking down, including Sierra Leone, Argentina, and China. Europe is shown as a precarious model for the future, with frontier guards unable to keep out illegal immigrants and gangsters eager to criminalise those who do make it across the dangerous waters of the Adriatic. Contributors include Robert Kaplan, Jean-Christophe Rufin and Prof. Martin van Creveld.
Looks at parts of the world where the rule of law has broken down completely and asks if this is a vision of the near future for Western governments as well. Includes contributions from Robert Kaplan, Jean-Christophe Rufin and Prof Martin van Creveld who all have alarming prophecies for the future.
