HORIZON: NATURE'S NUMBERS

BNFVC Notes

Looks at the work of field biologists from Conservation International in the Bolivian jungle, as they assess the environment in an area of rainforest, trying to decide whether there is enough habitat for the area's native species to survive. Suggests that stark predictions for the world's biodiversity, with the widespread extinction of many species, are now being challenged and doubts expressed about science's ability to cope with the numbers of species that make up the natural world.
