Set in the early 1960s, the film tells the story of a young boy whose Italian immigrant father struggles to make a living selling ice-cream and who tells him stories of Italy and of a legendary aristocratic German racing driver. The boy finally achieves his dream of success by inventing an aftershave using his father's secret vanilla recipe for ice-cream.
