Fifth part of a six part drama set in Ireland. Quigley is standing in the by-election and has the support of Father MacAnally but he is up against Dooley. Father Peter thinks the church should stay out of politics but then Quigley offers to fund the cost of the St Joseph's bell appeal but the replacements turn out to be an advertising scam for his election. A Tv journalist, who is an old boyfriend of Assumpta's turns up to cover the election and try and win her back. Meanwhile some old bones are dug up which may help Ambrose in his quest to marry Niamh.
