Library Synopsis

In Craiglockhart army hospital in Scotland in 1917, near the end of World War I, psychiatrist Dr William Rivers is called on to assess the sanity of decorated war poet Siegfried Sassoon, who has written a declaration critical of the British military's conduct of the war. Already beset by his own ethical doubts, Rivers is also assigned the treatment of budding poet Wilfred Owen and a young working-class officer, turned mute and amnesiac by his experiences.
