Drama series set in Ireland. As part of the cultural festival, Brian Quigley announces there will be a beauty contest , in conjunction with a spring water company who are looking for a girl to advertise their products. The women are annoyed about this, especially Siobhan, when Brian Quigley upsets her Brendan goes around to comfort her but things go further than either of them expected. Eamonn claims to have his niece staying with him, but Siobhan find out she is a "plant" put there by Brian Quigley so she will win the conbest and her father will give Brian a contract. Meanwhile Niamh is organising the dancing for the festival and Con O'Neill is proving a handful. Ambrose finds his talents lie in violin. On the day of the contest Assunmpta and Siobhan are delighted whebn Eamonn's niece fails to win and the prize goes to local girl Deidre.
