Drama series set in Ireland. A fire destroys Kathleen's house and when the villagers discover she has no insurance they rally round to start a collection for her. Father Peter is appointed treasurer but realises they are about £2,000 short of what is needed. When Father Peter is given a racing tip he decides to bet what they have got on the greyhounds. When things go wrong the locals decide to have a poker tournament with Father Peter as the referee. Meanwhile Brian Quigley has been given a tip which needs an investment of £4,000 but he is unsure whether he can trust Mossy who gave him the tip.
