DRAMA. Stories from The Bible. Three sections only. (202662A). The story of Joseph in Egypt. No main title. Pharoah's wise elders are unable to interpret his dreams of the cows and ears of grain. On the butler's advice, Pharoah summons Joseph from his prison cell. Joseph interprets Pharoah's dreams correctly as portending seven good harvests followed by seven lean ones. A grateful Pharoah appoints Joseph to oversee the collection and storage of grain during the years of plenty (808). Section from the story of Esther - the Festival, probably 1913 Andreani (826). (205435A). The Story of Ruth and Boaz. No main title. Ruth agrees to go with her mother-in-law, Naomi, back to Bethlehem saying `Whither thou goest, I will...' On arrival in Bethlehem it is harvest time and Ruth sets about gleaning. (92). Naomi mourns the death of her sons. She decides to return to Bethlehem (224). While gleaning, Ruth is seen by Boaz. He bids his servants not to interfere with her. Ruth returns to Namoi with her gleanings and tells of Boaz' kidness. Naomi tells Ruth to dress in her raiment, put oil on her hair, and go to Boaz. Ruth does as bid and lies down with Boaz. The next day he goes to the city and advises the elders that he will take Ruth as his wife. To secure recognition he gives up his shoe as is the custom. The couple after a blessing enter their house (813). (205883A) The story of Esau and Jacob. `Main' title. Rebecca and Isaac have two sons Esau and Jacob. Isaac loves the older boy Esau, while Rebecca loves the younger boy Jacob. Esau fails at hunting and is weak with hunger. Meanwhile, Jacob has cooked a pottage. He offers the food to Esau on the condition that Esau agrees to give up his birthright. Through hunger, Esau agrees. Isaac is old and blind. He realises he is dying and calls Esau to him asking him to hunt and prepare some savoury meat before he passes on his blessing. Esau agrees. Rebecca overhears and tells Jacob to kill and prepare two kids from the flock. They cook the kids and skin them placing the skins on Jacob to give the impression that he is Esau - who is very hairy. Jacob, disguised as Esau, takes the savoury meat to Isaac and obtains his father's blessing. Esau returns and Isaac realises his mistake. Rebecca tells Jacob to flee to her brother's house which he does (985). (2624ft) Note: The intertitles carry the production company name Vay.
