Animation. Friendship blossoms between a large iron beast and a small boy living in 1950's small-town America. The boy finds the giant a place to stay (and eat) in a scrap metal yard - until the authorities get wind of the creature and become suspicious that it may be a secret Communist weapon.

Based on the book `The Iron man' by Ted Hughes. Animated story set in a small American town in the 1950s, about the friendship that blossoms between a young boy and an alien giant robot that needs to eat metal to survive. When the creature tries to eat a power station, a government agent is sent to investigate and the military is called in to destroy it.
