This programme looks at how Liverpool became the greatest slaving port in human history, and shows that many of today's high street banks and insurance companies have their origins in the slave trade. The programme brings the descendants of slaves and slave owners face to face, and travels with two descendants of slaves to the caribbean. One of these descendants is white and the documentray examines what it means to be black in Britain today and how the racial mixing that occured under slavery has complicated this issue for the descendants.
