The final part of SEX BC explores the classical world where women's sexuality was seen as dangerously uncontrollable and wives were locked up at home. Meanwhile, men ran riot with prostitutes and teenage boys, homosexuality was celebrated in the heroic - and homoerotic - exploits of soldiers and athletes. Older men took youths to act as mentor and sexual instructor. Even Plato celebrated the superiority of love between two men. But this world of division and exploitation was transformed when the Greek state collapsed. Meanwhile attitudes to women underwent a sea change.
